Self Assessment Tax Return deadline 2012 is 31 January 2013

At present if you wish to file your annual Self Assessment Tax Return for the 2011-12 tax year in paper form then this must have been be received by HMRC by 31 October 2012. As this deadline has now passed the only option open to you is to submit your self assessment tax return online.

HMRC is pushing for the compulsory online filing of Self Assessment Tax Returns and this will happen soon.

For income arising in the tax year 6 April 2011 to 5 April 2012 the self assessment tax return should be submitted online at the very latest by 31 January 2013. Any tax payable through Self Assessment also should be paid by this date.
